She was born on 24 April 1975 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her birth name is Sophie Grégoire.

She is the daughter of Jean Grégoire, a stockbroker, and Estelle Blais, a Franco-Ontarian nurse.
Career and Charity Work
Grégoire’s first job was as a receptionist and assistant at an advertising firm. She was promoted to an account manager, but after three years of working in advertising, public relations, and sales, she decided to attend radio and television school, where she immediately knew, “I had found my calling”.
After completing her studies there, Grégoire got a job in a newsroom, writing the news ticker. A lover of culture, arts, and films, when she became aware of an opening at Quebec television station LCN for an entertainment reporter, she applied and was successful in obtaining the position.
In addition to serving as an entertainment reporter for LCN’s daily Showbiz segment, she contributed to segments on Salut Bonjour Weekend, Clin d’œil, and Bec et Museau for TVA, and hosted Canal Évasion’s Escales de Rêves and Canal Z’s Teksho. Grégoire also served as co-host on CKMF Radio’s morning shows and contributed to Radio-Canada’s Coup de Pouce.
Additionally, she worked in the mid-2000s as a personal shopper for upscale department store Holt Renfrew.
Married & Children
Grégoire first met Justin Trudeau, the eldest son of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, when they were both children in Montreal, where Grégoire was a classmate and childhood friend of the youngest Trudeau son, Michel.
Grégoire and Trudeau reconnected as adults in June 2003, when they were assigned to co-host a charity ball, and began dating several months later. They became engaged in October 2004, and married on 28 May 2005, in a Catholic ceremony at Montreal’s Sainte-Madeleine Outremont Church. They have three children: Xavier James Trudeau, Ella-Grace Margaret Trudeau, and Hadrien Grégoire Trudeau.
Sophie Trudeau Coronavirus Test
A Canadian communications official, Chantal Gagnon, issued a press released on March 12, saying that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, is being tested for the COVID-19 coronavirus. She was experiencing flu-like symptoms and is now awaiting test results, the Ottawa Citizen reported. Prime Minister Trudeau has chosen to also self-isolate and work from home until the results are received, “out of an abundance of caution.”

The press release says that “Having recently returned from a speaking engagement in London, UK, the Prime Minister’s wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau began exhibiting mild flu-like symptoms including a low fever late last night.” It continues, “She immediately sought medical advice, and is being tested for the COVID-19 virus. She is self-isolating at home awaiting test results, and her symptoms have since subsided.”
Sophie Trudeau Test Positive for Coronavirus
Sophie Trudeau has tested positive for the new coronavirus. In a statement Thursday night, Trudeau’s office said: “Following medical recommendations, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was tested for COVID-19 today. The test came back positive.”
The statement says she will remain in isolation.
“She is feeling well, is taking all the recommended precautions and her symptoms remain mild,” it said, adding that health care workers will “reach out to those who have been in contact with Mrs. Grégoire Trudeau as they deem necessary.”
The Prime Minister’s Office statement also included a message from Sophie herself, thanking everyone who has reached out to her with questions about her health.
